"because black is memorial service etiquette"

As I was trying on black dresses last night I asked Micah why must we wear black if it is for someone we know knew the Lord and is going to heaven? I mean shouldn't we wear bright colors in celebration I asked. He said that I was right but that it was memorial service etiquette to wear black.
Our dear friend Kate lost her daddy to cancer. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but considering how amazing of a friend Kate is I know he was a great man. Interesting enough when we walked into the service, across the huge monitor above the stage read "Fred James Snow, A Celebration of Life" And that is exactly what I was talking about. They had a beautiful slide show to honor him and to show him living and celebrating his life. It was a very short but touching service, with which Kate's husband Josh officiated.
Though this was an event I wish hadn't happened, I was able to put Elsie in her black velvet dress. It made both Micah and I so sad that this will now be remembered as her funeral dress but it is what it is.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Kate and her family.

Look at our little celebration of life!
I didn't have a black bow but I found one of my headbands in the car and just tightened up.

4 month Appointment

Totally forgot to include Elsie's growth progress. She had her four month check up today. She turned four months on Sunday. She only gained 1 lb 4 oz from her two month appt. Her pediatrician says that is good because there was still growth, the only thing now is that she is in the 50th percentile whereas two months ago she was pushing the 80%. She is healthy and happy and the Dr. said she is doing great. She grew another inch as well so she is 13 lbs. 11 oz and 25 in long!

Who needs Internet?

Me, I absolutely do. I remember thinking before if I didn't have internet I could still get by, well technically I could because we all once did right? The point is I have become accustomed to using it... daily, for everything! Including posting pictures and talking about my weekends on this Blog thingy. What happened was our internet went out Saturday evening from some construction in a nearby neighborhood. Micah spoke with Verizon and got it back up and running last night, which is why I'm blogging about my weekend on Tuesday instead of Sunday evening.
So anyway Micah hosted his office party here this weekend. It was real chill and I opted for cold sandwiches and food inside vs. the grill. Thank God we did too because it was 110 degrees on Saturday.
Sunday we went to church, had breakfast at Coco's with the Q's and then swam in the pool. Even my dad drove up to swim and see his baby girl. It was a great weekend, all except for the fact that on Saturday in the middle of the company party some guy was hammering and painting the new For Sale sign in front of our house. It made it so much more real. I was saddened by the whole thing. It was only on the market three days before putting it on hold. It listed last Wed and we put it on hold Friday due to the fact that we already received EIGHT offers! So ya, looks like we are moving for sure. We are excited to see where God is leading us next. We still have no idea. I will keep everyone posted.
On to the pics!
The Food!
little penguins, got this tip from one of my favorite blogs.
Elsie and her Watermelon dress her Aunt Nat bought her!
I look scary in this pic!
I couldn't decide which one to post, the one of me looking scary or her looking scared.

Visitors

I have to apologize for not posting this sooner but this week has been kind of crazy. Just to let everyone know we have put our house on the market. It actually listed on Wednesday and we had an immediate response, and when I say immediate I mean we had about four different couples come and look oh and we had four offersput in. One offer was cash in full and he wants a 30 day escrow. CRAZY! We knew the Lord was moving us out of here, but not this quickly. Anyway I have been kind of consumed with that and will keep everyone posted on the progress.
This past weekend we had a special weekend because Jammie, Mamaw and Papaw came to visit us... well let me rephrase that, they came to visit Elsie. We lounged around mainly and got out for a bite to eat a couple of times. It was a very enjoyable weekend just spending quality family time together. We were so happy they made the trip to see us.
Papa sent this for Elsie, he wasn't able to come, but she loved her duck.
She loves her Jammie
This is what the weekend mostly consisted of
I really think she like Mamaw's voice because she would smile so big every time she talked to her. She wasn't used to that accent
Micah and his Papaw
Out to eat with Jammie looking fab in her new wardrobe

Morning Surprise

This morning before Micah left for work he went and checked on Elsie. He shut her door, fed the dog and came and said good bye to me. I could hear her talking through the monitor so I asked him just to bring her to me, seeing it was only 10 minutes before her feeding time. He went in the nursery and hollered for me to come and see her. I walked in to find her rolled over onto her back. He had just checked on her only moments before and she was sound asleep on her tummy. Yet here she was, looking up smiling and looking like such a big girl on her back. She rolled over on her own. We were both so proud of her. Micah immediately picked her up and squeezed her with excitement. After Micah left I got emotional about it because she is growing up too fast. I love this sweet, innocent, non-mobile stage and it is passing by right before my eyes.

So onto our three day weekend. Micah had Friday off so we ventured off to Newport Beach. I had in my mind that we would drive out there only to turn around and come home, just because all the sand and surf. Elsie actually did great. We were there for three hours and I got a great tan so I can't complain. We beat traffic both ways so that made it even more enjoyable. We stayed in the rest of the night and watched movies.
On the 4th of July we went to have an early breakfast after Elsie's 6:00 feeding and then lounged around the house until my parents came over. We set the grill to BBQ, and after stuffing ourselves we went swimming. After relaxing outside for a bit we all got ready and went to another Lake Elsinore Storm Minor league game. We purchased grass ticket seats but after setting up our blanket we realized we couldn't see and that it wasn't going to be easy keeping Elsie asleep while sitting on a slant, so we went and found empty seats to enjoy the game. We got kicked out of the first set of seats but then found even better seats and enjoyed the rest of the game from there. Micah and I were cracking up because we looked over to see my parents looking so stressed like we were going to get in trouble. We told them to relax and they did, but I wish I would've got a picture of their "We are pretending to enjoy the game but are really stressed we're going to get kicked out" faces. We left the field right before they set of fireworks to beat traffic and we enjoyed them from the comfort of our car right outside the stadium. It was truly an All American 4th of July, I mean we had a BBQ, swam in the pool, baseball game and ended the night with some awesome fireworks. My parents spent the night and after church my mom and I went shopping because I mean c'mon, it wouldn't have been a holiday weekend if there wasn't a little shopping involved. After they left Micah, Elsie and myself just lounged around and relaxed the remainder of the weekend.
Getting ready to walk out on the beach
Elsie was squinting like this the whole time, I guess it was too bright for her even under our canopy
Don't worry we only took her into the sun and down to the water for like 2 minutes OK, seriously, look at her thighs. I can just eat them all day!
What a vision
Micah gave her a bath when we got home and I walked in to find this
I told Elsie we had to get the laundry done before Grandma & Grandpa came over so she decided to help
Which basically turned into her sucking on every article of clothing she could get her tiny hands on
At the baseball game
Yes that is my bandana in her hair. I didn't have any red bows and I wanted her to be festive for the 4th. All her other outfits are still too big so she wore her blue and white polka dot pants and rocked the red bandana.
This is the team's mascot "Thunder"...
and of course, bath time again with Daddy.
